Product Development Manager

Since the mid seventies, BOSTON WAREHOUSE TRADING CORP. has grown both domestically and overseas, tailoring our innovative product offerings toward specific home entertaining and home décor retail channels. Over the years, we’ve expanded our gift and housewares merchandise; introduced new product materials; and moved into many new categories. We’ve also created a separate buying office in Asia to create private label products for large retailers. Our vision is to grow into a world-class business of creative ideas for the home.

SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTION

This Product Development Manager will be developing products in collaboration with the sales team to generate new products and ideas for specific accounts. This person will work with the Vice -President of Product Development and Marketing searching the marketplace for innovative new product ideas and trends aligned with corporate growth strategy. Willingness and ability to travel to Asia on a regular basis.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

• A Bachelors degrees or equivalent required.

• 8+ years experience in hard goods product development for wholesale or retail organization.

• Prior work experience in the development of tabletop, home decor or giftware.

• Effective management and communication skills both oral and written.

• The ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.

• Knowledge of product design, production planning and costing.

• Computer skills: Must have MS Excel, Word and Outlook. Knowledge of a menu driven database system and Photoshop a plus.

• Trade show design and/or retail display experience a plus.
